A few weeks ago, my team and I embarked on our trip to the South of France to attend none other than the Oscars of Marketing also known as the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. There is no hotter place to be in the summer (literally but also figuratively temperature wise) than the South of France. Held annually in Cannes, France, the festival brings together creative professionals, brands, agencies, media companies, technology leaders, and innovators from around the globe to showcase groundbreaking ideas and shape the future of the industry. Here are some of my biggest takeaways from my first Cannes Lions experience:
Beyond the Palais
The Palais des Festivals et des Congrès is the official hub of Cannes Lions. While much of the core festival programming takes place in the Palais, much of the buzz happens outside of the venue along the stunning views of the Croisette. The city itself truly becomes the festival with pop-up activations, rooftop conversations, boulangerie runs, dinners, and chance encounters all become part of the learning experience. Some of the best conversations happened between sessions, not during them.
Brands are Investing in IRL Experiences like Never Before

Imagine some of the most iconic brands in marketing: Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Canva, and countless others. We interact with them every day through our screens, but at Cannes, they came to life.
From immersive beach pop ups to creator lounges all with thoughtfully designed touchpoints such as Microsoft branded ice cream bars and Female Quotient branded electric fans to survive the heat, each brand activation felt like you were stepping into its world leaving a lasting impression (and a ton of content opportunities).
The Power is In Both the Panels and the People
I had the pleasure of spending a lot of time at Sport Beach that brings in iconic athletes and industry icons for unique panel conversations. From hearing insights from Lando Norris, Lindsey Vonn, Kevin Durant, Michael Ratner, and many others, the speaker lineup was nothing short of impressive. But the true power was found in the conversations I had with brand executives in between panels, in-line for the hydration station and in the networking area. It was a reminder that while the sessions spark ideas, it’s the connections you make that often leave the biggest impact.
The Creator Economy is not the Future, it’s the Present
Throughout the week, there was one recurring theme across every panel, fireside chat, and side conversation: creators.
Not only are more creators attending Cannes Lions than ever before, from Olandria sharing the stage with Microsoft to creators like Mel Robbins being featured alongside traditional industry leaders at Cannes Lions and Josh Richards speaking on a panel at Axios Yacht highlighting the growing impact and influence of the creator economy.
Creativity is Global
l
One of my favorite parts of the week was meeting people from different countries, industries, and backgrounds. Everyone arrived with unique experiences, but we were united by a shared curiosity about where creativity, tech and marketing are headed.
The Oscars of Advertising Continues to Inspire

My first Cannes Lions left me inspired, challenged, and excited about what’s next. More than anything, it reinforced that creativity doesn’t happen in isolation, it happens when people come together through shared experiences, conversations and a willingness to learn from people all over the world. As a goal that has lived on my vision board for years I can proudly say that Cannes Lions exceeded all expectations and showcased the power of putting yourself in rooms that inspire you.
I am already looking forward to next year!
